Input Queue General Information
New Input Queue (Cut-in on serial # P1264 and above)
The new Input Queue has the following:
- MTU
Multi-tube unit—Container used to process tests in the instrument. An MTU contains five separate reaction tubes. The MTU is moved through the instrument by the linear distributor and includes five tiplets for pipettiing to be used in the mag wash station. transfer block is made of Cast Aluminum - MTU Pusher is an injection molded part
- Single Piece extruded Aluminum Rails
- Rails screws mounted on top
- Spring loaded belt tensioner
- Injection Molded interlock lever
- Simplified flex cable routing
- One-piece sheet metal cover & new scanner mounting
- Simplified base plate
Description
This module accepts new MTUs from the user and prepares them for handoff to the Distributor.
The module has the capacity to hold 25 MTUs. In addition, the module holds and controls the MTU barcode scanner/
Interfacing Modules
A single 6-pin cable connects the MTU Input Queue module to the COP.
The module interfaces with the Distributor by packing the MTUs and placing them, one-at-a-time, in a position for the Distributor to grab. In addition, the module holds and controls the MTU barcode scanner, which is triggered twice for each MTU—once immediately after picking a new MTU and once immediately before going to the Luminometer.
Theory/Sequence of Operation
With the MTU Input Queue drawer open, an operator places a box of MTUs and loads 10 MTUs onto the rails.
If necessary, the operator may load additional MTUs until full.
When the drawer is closed, the MTU pusher moves forward, packing the MTUs together until the final MTU depresses the packing sensor button.
Using the encoder on the packing motor, the module is able to determine how many MTUs are in the module.
